Dillon smirked at his elder's words. Of course he knew how to perform the simple movement. He had been training to become a dragon rider almost from the time he could walk and talk. He knew it was his destiny to become the greatest dragon rider of all time and no one would convince him otherwise. He stepped forward, swinging the wooden sword in a perfect imitation of his teacher's demonstration. Although in his mind, he had performed the movement much better than his teacher. "Good Dillon, that will be enough for today" his elder said, dismissing the young dragon rider. The boy bowed low, before placing the sword with the other practice swords and walking away.
His training was proceeding right on schedule, some may even say that he was ahead of the normal trainee schedule. Dillon knew he was the strongest in his group and none could outshine him except for one. A frown appeared on his face as he thought of one of the other trainee's. Allen had been a thorn in Dillon's side from the day both boys had begun their training. Dillon wasn't used to having to compete with some one who could esealy match his skill and talent. All his life he had been the center of attention, sole owner of the limelight. Now he had to compete with some one for that light, and it infuriated him. He was the strongest but he often asked himself for how long?
Not only could Allen match Dillon in strength, but like himself he was improving at an increasingly alarming rate. Dillon paused by a door trying to figure out how he was to ensure that he stayed the best trainee. A dragon rider walked out the soor carrying an armful of dirty equipment and almost seemed relieved to see Dillon standing in the passageway, doing nothing. He sighed as he took the equipment from the rider. It was expected of trainee's to do chores for their elder's and other dragon riders when they weren't training, so he could not refuse the rider's equipment. He walked until he found an area where he could hopefully clean the equipment in peace without getting bothered by anyone else. He grimaced as he began, the equipment was filthy and he did not want to know how it had gotten so dirty.
