A warm breeze carried the scent of freshly baked bread along the streets of Sandimont; despite the sun being hidden behind a thick layer of grey clouds Gwethana still squinted due to the brightness of the early morning. An emerald cloak concealed her features in dark shadows, only the tip of her nose was exposed. Though she had wandered the streets of the city many times Gwethana felt it best to keep her identity a secret despite the fact not many would recognize her. She spent most of her time within the King’s castle fulfilling his orders and enhancing her magical abilities yet she still needed more practice.
Her eyes swept the busy shops, observing as merchants advertised their products in hopes of golden coins filling their pockets curing the agonizing ache within their stomachs. Shouts and earsplitting barks of laughter cut through the atmosphere and Gwethana winced at the noise’s shrillness. Eagerly her hazel eyes swept over the area in search for what she required. There had been a specific reason that Gwethana had ventured out into the city. Inhaling deeply, coughing delicately into her hand as the putrid scent of something vile burned her nostrils, Gwethana finally spotted an ally consumed by darkness.
A small smile graced her lips and Gwethana hastily took a step towards the ally’s direction, relief flooding through her slender body. Villagers eyed her strangely, it was a curious sight to see a cloaked figure entering a dark ally yet Gwethana was used to this kind of look. Rounding a corner and entering the ally a cool mist greeted Gwethana, the moisture ticking her nose. Biting her lower lip she fought back a sneeze not wanting to alert her presence. For a few, long moments Gwethana wandered down the ally; cobblestones crunching inharmoniously beneath her feet. Finally she froze turning her head a degree to the left, there was a small opening into the side of a brick wall. Pushing back the velvet curtain that disguised the entrance Gwethana entered a dimly lit room.
